Flavored vodkas are becoming increasingly popular, among which vanilla is one of the bestselling varieties.

The problem I have with most vanilla flavored vodkas (and most flavored vodkas in general) is that they taste artificial and are, in most cases, loaded with sugar.

So I came up with a delicious solution – I call it Red Vanilla Vodka.  Even better, on top of the usual vanilla flavor, you also get the complexities of Rooibos thrown in for a special treat that’s super-easy to prepare.

Red Vanilla Vodka

2 heaping tbsp Rooibos Vanilla

1 liter Vodka (recommended: TRU vodka)

Put the tea leaves in the vodka, attach cap firmly and shake to thoroughly combine.  Allow the tea to “steep” in the vodka for at least 10 hours, preferably overnight.  Strain through a fine-mesh strainer.

Enjoy chilled, on the rocks or with any of your favorite mixers (I personally love it with ginger ale)!
