Being that today is Cinco de Mayo, I couldn’t resist tinkering around with Margarita recipes.  And through this inspiration, I found a new way to use tea in a cocktail!

My newest luscious libation infuses the tea in the ice cubes which then incorporate evenly into the drink as the blender crushes them.

Ingenious?  Probably not.

Delicious? Absolutely!

margariTEA!Green MargariTEA

1½ oz tequila (recommended: Partida Blanco)

1 oz cointreau

¾ oz fresh squeezed lime juice

½ oz simple syrup

1 lime wedge

2 tsp sugar

1 cup Lemongreen, frozen into 10 or so ice cubes

Rub the lime wedge around the rim of an margarita or old-fashioned glass. Dip and rotate the rim in the saucer of sugar, making sure to keep the sugar on the outside. In a blender, combine the green tea ice cubes, tequila, lime juice, Cointreau, and simple syrup. Blend on the pulse setting until slushy. Pour into the sugar-rimmed glass.
