The Christmas Tree at Rock Center here in NYC has now officially been lit, so it ’tis officially the season to be jolly!

And my favorite hot, sweet treat for the holidays is none other than my Chai Mulled Cider.

It is super-simple to make, highly addictive (perfect balance of apple/chai flavors) and a great way to warm up on a cold winter’s night.

You can also spike it with your favorite holiday booze (I prefer brandy, but rum, whiskey or even vodka works too) to make those year-end parties merry!

I usually make it in 1/2 gallon batches – sounds like a lot, but you’ll definitely be back for seconds so it goes quickly!

1/2 gallon apple cider
4 heaping teaspoons Kama Chai Sutra

In a medium saucepan, heat apple cider to a simmer. Take off heat and add tea leaves. Stir to fully incorporate, and allow to steep for about 10 minutes.

Strain (carefully) and enjoy!
