Taking Tea-Beer to School

Over the past few months, I have had the privilege of working with some of the best brewers in the country, collaborating on some delicious tea-infused beers.

My latest collaboration with another local NJ brewery, Hackensack’s The Alementary Brewing Company, is no exception!

For this round, we took a clean, bright German Kölsch and infused it with our After Dark tea in two batches: first with the hibiscus and dried fruits, then later with the chamomile so that the flavors hit you in waves for a totally unique drinking experience.

The level of alcohol is fairly low (only about 5.5%), so it is drinkable all day!  Therefore (and because the juxtaposition of the name After Dark) we chose to name this beer Before Sunset, as in “you can start drinking it before sunset.”  (I know I will be!)

Starting today at 3pm EST, 750 mL bottles will be available at the brewery, and pours will be served at the taproom as well as many of your favorite craft beer hangouts!

I will be at the brewery tonight pouring some cold-brewed iced tea to pair with the new brew, so if you swing by stop and say hello!

Here are some pics of our tea-beer making antics:
