Last Tuesday, January 12, Haiti faced a natural disaster of unprecedented proportion. An earthquake unlike anything the country has ever experienced, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake – and several unusually strong aftershocks – struck only 10 miles from country’s capital and most populated area, Port-au-Prince.
It is estimated that hundreds of thousands of people have died, and millions are now homeless (many of which are now orphaned children). Still today, over 2 million people in Haiti face this catastrophe with little hope in sight.
I cannot stress enough what a human disaster this is, and idle hands will only make this tragedy worse. So we at Tavalon are trying to do something to add a little serenity into these victims’ lives.
Starting today, we’ll be donating 40% of the proceeds of sales of our Serenity blend, our bestselling winter tea, to UNICEF’s Haiti Relief Fund.
