If you are on summer vacation, you are probably not a Tea Sommelier – but you do still need to infuse tea into your life!
That’s right, thanks to a new study released by the University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, tea is especially essential when you plan to be out in the sun for prolonged periods of time. Luckily, though, they have developed a spray, made primarily from tea, that has been shown to protect skin against cancer caused by over-exposure to ultraviolet light (say, if you fall asleep at the beach…).
Scientists said that the tea spray boosts the skin’s built-in immune system and helps it fight off the sun’s harmful effects. This is undoubtedly thanks to the polyphenols found naturally in abundance in tea.
When tea (in this experiment they focused on green tea but also mentioned that white tea was just as effective) was dissolved into a mixture containing water and a few other chemicals, the results showed that the area sprayed with tea was better equipped to resist cancer-related damage to cells than the area not sprayed.
So keep that beach bod healthy, infuse it in – and out – with tea!
