8.9 magnitudeI wanted to take a moment to express my thanks to all my readers who have written asking if any of the farmers that grow our Japanese teas were affected by the massive earthquake and the devastatingly destructive tsunami that followed last week.

Luckily, most of our Japanese tea farmers reside in the Shizuoka region, which is quite a bit south from where most of the damage took place, and no harm was done to them, their families or their crops.

Looking at the photos and footage on the news over the weekend, I am not only heartbroken to see such a rich, amazing culture go through such turmoil, but am also amazed by the way these people, who just endured one of the largest natural disasters in recorded history,  are able to come together to search for survivors, clear the rubble and begin to rebuild.

Our thoughts and well-wishes go out to all those affected by this unfathomable tragedy.
