Tavalon's twist on the normal Ceylon tea is truly wonderful. There is very distinct peppermint flavour that makes it so distinct from other black teas I've had in the past.

When my gaze landed on the appellation of this particular Ceylon, I was intrigued. Once I read brief bulletin of ingredients, I knew that Purity was a tea that my tastes couldn't bypass. Tavalon's handcrafted blend of Ceylon was ignited by organic peppermint and organic bits of ginger. I steeped this one for five, four and ten minutes, I enjoyed all of the steep times, so apparently this tea is somewhat foolproof. Although, the peppermint tastes more like Moroccan grown mint as the steep time in increased, so which ever flavour fits the mood best could direct bathing limit of this particular tea. In the realm of medicinal properties, this tea must have been designed as a tummy tea. Ginger has a reputation in the herbal/medical world as a stomach settler. Researchers suggest that the chemical compound gingerol (clever name) is the primary stomach beneficent in ginger. They are hypothesizing that gingerol binds to a chemical that would have promoted the pharyngeal reflex (vomiting reflex) and changes its shape so that it can no longer activate the feelings of queasiness. In general, ginger tends to strengthen the upper digestive tract. In addition to this, peppermint seems to have effects on the lower GI; assisting with relieving symptoms such as: cramps, gas, diarrhea and constipation. Together, this dynamic duo seems to be a tea essential for belly trouble and well crafted by the makers. Now the actual tea, it’s a classic. The mint releases a freshness that is equivalent to quality toothpaste, but without the creamy pasty remnants later on. The mint doesn't drown out the Sri Lanka black blend that Tavalon has graced this cup with, and it is nicely balanced with mellowing tones of mollifying ginger. The organics in the blend are distinctly elegant when compared to non-organic counterparts. I don't believe that there is something groundbreaking about this fine note, but I do believe that it is an essential note to add to any tea cupboard. Personally, I feel biased towards this tea because of its gastrointestinal benefits. Me and my tummy have a historical love/hate relationship. However, I don't feel that these types of relations with one's own alimentary canal are uncommon, thus Purity could be a secret weapon of the health conscious tea consuming circle.
