5 January 2010 - 17:45Tea and Endometrial Cancer
Endometrial cancer is one of the most common cancers among American women.
This begins in the cells of the endometrium, the lining of the uterus, and overwhelmingly occurs in women older than 55.
Although the diagnosis of endometrial cancer (or any cancer, for that matter) is difficult to receive, the good news is that this type of cancer is more often that not found at its earliest, most treatable stage.
On top of this, there may be simple, practical way to help reduce the risk of Endometrial cancer: tea. A recent study done in China, reported in the December issue of the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, showed that women who drank 2 or more cups of tea on a daily basis showed a 25% lower risk of Endometrial cancer.
The study, which enrolled more than 100,000 subjects from 1996 to 2009 and embodied 116 previous reports, is by no means an all-encompassing answer. However, it is a good sign that doctors may some day have a natural, non-invasive way to prevent this (and many other forms of) cancer from occurring.
